On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 38 offenders at external borders and within the country.

15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Russia, who presented forged Russian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Canada, as she exceeded the duration of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries. Person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Belarus and one – of Kazakhstan were detected at the Pāternieki and the Terehova Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – four citizens of Pakistan, two – of Estonia, one – of Ukraine, one – of Sweden and one citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two - of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Moldova and one – of Finland.
