On Saturday, March 25, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Belarus, who presented to border guards forged Belarusian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Pededze, the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia and three – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Tajikistan was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Lithuania, three – of Kirgizstan, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Belarus, one – of Canada, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
