On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 52 offenders on both external borders and within the country.

30 trespassers were detected on external borders, including

  • one foreigner with forged documents was detected

at „Grebņeva” border control point, one citizen of Ukraine who presented a forged driver’s license of Ukraine to the border guards was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal proceedings, forged documents were confiscated.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for eight foreigners

at „Grebņeva” and „Terehova” border control points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; and three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their travel and stay. Persons were returned to their country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by five foreigners

at “Terehova”, “Grebņeva” and Airport “Riga” border control points, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Georgia, one citizen of Belarus, and one citizen of Azerbaijan who had violated conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, no valid visas or residence permits) were detected. Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Latvia

at the Airport „Riga” border control point, one citizen of Latvia departing for London without a valid travel document required for entering Great Britain was detected. Persons were prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by five persons - two citizens of Lithuania, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Azerbaijan, one citizen of Great Britain, and one citizen of Pakistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - five citizens of Belarus, four citizens of Ukraine, two citizens of Moldova, one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Russia, one citizen of Georgia, one citizen of Serbia, and one citizen of Uzbekistan.
